Easter at Julie's

We went to Julie's for Easter. Just wanted to share a few highlights from the day. Here's the trio...Julie, Josh and Tucker(Riley's brother). Their wedding is just about 6 1/2 weeks away!
Rhonda took a basket of homemade chocolates to them that our co-worker made. Tucker was sniffing, but of course he didn't get any. Chocolate is toxic to dogs! Julie just wanted a cute picture of him with the doggy basket.
This is Daisy....Josh's sister's Yorkie. She's a peanut! It was hard to get a picture of her as she and Tucker move so fast all around while playing.
Tucker was "tuckered out" with all the company and excitement of Daisy and Sadie(Josh's parents' dog) and everyone around. Before we left, I had to get a picture with these little bunny ears. He was so subdued he probably wouldn't have cared if I turned him upside down to take a picture.
The silly thing is that I took several pictures while there, but most of them were of the dogs. Imagine that!! I was anti-camera when it came to taking my picture, but managed to get a few of Julie with her dad or Josh. We had such a nice time while there and the meal was delicious, too!

Celebrating Lauren

I made this card Saturday to mail to my friend's daughter Lauren. She is turning 7 later this week. The sad thing is that I have only seen her once in person...when she was five weeks old. It has been TOO long since I've traveled south. Boo hoo! How my heart yearns to be in the midst of those luscious southern accents again. *sigh* It's music to my ears.
I rarely remember the patterned paper I use, so I decided to take a pic of some of my supplies for easy reference. The papers are from American Crafts Everyday line. The card base is a melon color on the front and a funky stripe inside. Kinda makes for a fun, funky card.
I used this retired set So Many Scallops for the front of the card. I colored the image with Stampin' Up! markers in colors that would match the patterned paper (Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Apricot Appeal). I punched the center of the image using a 1 1/4" circle punch, then layered it on more punched pieces from the American Crafts double-sided papers. I used my Versamarker to color only the Happy Birthday words and stamped those repeatedly on the melon strip of cardstock. I inked my edges with my trusty 'ol Chestnut Roan cat's eye pad. I finished it off with a piece of the striped paper that was punched with my Fiskars Threading Water punch and some happy white polka-dot ribbon.
This is another retired set called Birthday Greetings. I used my Chocolate Chip marker to ink the last half of the greeting stamp for the inside.
The card is on its way to Tennessee already. Glad you stopped by today. Ya'll come back now, ya hear! :)

What Does Easter Mean?

Please watch this wonderful video. It is because of Jesus' death and resurrection that our wounds are healed. Click HERE. He is Risen!

But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him and by His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

Thursday This 'n That

I got this adorable Easter card from Connie today. Those monkeys crack me up! *click for a closer look and see all her details* I love the glittery dots on the scalloped pieces. Yum!
Ahhhhh-ha! Yep, there are two guilty dogs in this house. Unfortunately, I can't prove the guilty party nor the time of the crime. DANG IT! This is the good woodwork at our front picture window in the living room. Look at the pic below and see if you can tell me which one is the guilty party! How on earth do I fix this? I literally counted how many toys/bones are in plain sight for them. TWELVE! That's twelve things that either squeak, roll, or can be chewed on. They always want what the other one has, but they still have enough that they should never "need" to chew the woodwork. I guess rawhide isn't the "flavor of the day" anymore. *sigh* I recently rearranged the living room furniture and now keep the ottoman in front of the window for a "lookout perch" for them. Looks like they were "couch potatoes" and helped themselves to a snack while sun-bathing near the window. Oh brother! Looks like it's time to bring out the Tabasco or some other chew deterrent to nip this behavior in the bud!
Possible guilty parties(shown here at the crime scene)= Jack, the white dog who is sneaky and quiet. He tends to slink around and pretend he'd NEVER do such a thing. Riley, the "big 'un" is his accomplice or perhaps the ring leader. It's too hard to tell at this point in the investigation. If you see either of these (yes, adorable) dogs doing what they shouldn't while Momma is in the shower in the morning, please feel free to smack their paws and say "NO!". *sigh* I announced to them (while gritting my teeth) that they will most likely NEVER graduate from being in a kennel while Momma and Daddy are at work. Testosterone=Trouble... Period. LOL!
This made me smile today. I knew a few blooms were emerging on our Christmas cactus. Last year, our former neighbor passed away. He gave us "Mr. Cactus" when he moved away. I think of him every time it blooms. I bet tomorrow or Saturday it will be all the way opened. There are a few more peeking out so I'll have some gorgeous hot pink blooms to enjoy soon. After seeing this today (in the same room as the crime scene), it reminds me that doggy chewing or woodwork or even a house for that matter just isn't as important as a person you knew or a life that has been lost. I'm still not letting them graduate despite my "tender" moment in Cactusland. :)

Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder

This isn't a "finished" card, but I wanted to quickly show you how elegant and simple this new embossing folder is from Stampin' Up! It's also only $7.95! It coordinates with the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. I did end up stamping a sentiment near the top right area of the card and added some ribbon across the top. I needed an "oh my gosh I can't believe I forgot her birthday" card for Kevin's Grandma. It will arrive a few days late, but man did this simple card save the day! I am mailing it out tomorrow. :) What I like about the embossing is that it can be used for different occasions and is gorgeous all by itself. I am so glad I got it with my latest SU! order at Joan's workshop.
I finished my Easter cards tonight while watching American Idol (go Adam Lambert!) and will get them in the mail tomorrow. I didn't get as many done as I wished, but at least I got a handful done to send to mostly family. I'll post some pics of that later this week. I have a busy Wednesday and probably/maybe won't do much else crafty this week. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy 100th Edna!

One of our patients at the office is turning 100 this week! Wow! She still lives alone and cooks for herself daily! Amazing! She walks down the hall like she's 30. She is a sweet little lady. I made this card for everyone at the office to sign.
All supplies SU! except the green bling stones and Stickles glitter glue. I used my new Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set along with the retired greeting from It's Your Birthday. I pulled out last year's retired In Color colors of Soft Sky, Blue Bayou and Wild Wasabi.
I sponged Soft Sky along the edges of the white cardstock and added some Stickles for glittery goodness to the flowers. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!
