Happy Daffodils

Today was such a blessed day! My daffodils are finally blooming! When I let Macy out this morning about 7:20 they weren't opened. This afternoon after church they were bowing towards the warm spring sun and showing their gorgeous yellow hues. Daffodils are my favorite flower for a few reasons. They remind me of my dear friend Merrill. She likes daffodils, too. They are also a sign of a new season, a new beginning. They make their way past the dull-colored mulch and dead branches to smile at me. My heart just feels lighter once the daffodils come. It's as if God is whispering to me, "This is just for you, my child. Enjoy." I am so grateful for my eyesight and that I can see His many wonderous blessings in nature. Thank you Lord for the happy daffodils!

My beautiful "baby"...

This is a page I did on Sunday. After scrapbooking with mom and Tammy all day Saturday, I was on a roll. I have been psycho busy this week, so I am just now posting another page from last weekend. My taxes are done and the refund's on its way! Ya'll probably think I'm crazy since I scrapbook my dog, but for now in my life (since we have no kids) she is my "baby". I guess if I had a baby, I'd substitute his/her pic on this fancier layout or even a beautiful bride/wedding picture. However, my doggie is a very dainty girl and so I used her as my inspiration. The soft white fur, the soft pink inner ear and those gorgeous little puppy eyelashes! Yes, I love my dog. I often say....if it weren't for her, I'd be insane. At the most stressful time in my life, she has been my sanity. I thank God for her. He knew I needed a sweet little Macy in my life. *sniffle*
Anyway... about the layout. Notice how the largest portion of things are positioned to the right-hand side of the layout. It reminds me of the "align right" option you have when typing a document. I had seen a layout online the other day and it inspired me to shift my design to the right. With the direction Macy is looking, your eye flows that way anyway. I used whisper white, light grey textured and basic gray cardstocks. I wanted a hint of pink as an accent, so I chose vellum for that layer. I rounded the corners to soften the lines, added some felt hearts, clear bling brads, ribbons and a layered sentiment piece. The saying is a rub-on and I used the round tab, small oval and large oval punches. OH and who can forget that gorgeous lace cardstock!?! I got that at my LSS for a great price! I wanted to balance the darker grey color in the design, so I stamped the flower from the Stampin' Up! set called Together Forever under the vellum and ribbon. I love that set!
Thanks for letting me share my "baby" page! I hope you'll be inspired to create a fancy page about someone/something that makes you happy. And, don't be afraid to try the "align right" look.
Have a blessed weekend!

My Brother

This layout is about my brother Steve. The journaling says: Steve is shy around most people, but we all know his goofy side. He is a simple man with a big heart. I am proud that he is my brother!
The papers, title and journaling card are all from the Bohemia collection by My Minds Eye. The extras I used are some woven ribbon, Bordering Blue cardstock, white craft pad, pewter brads, ticket corner punch and photo corner punch. I also inked the edges of the cardstock, journaling card and title with a sponge dauber and Bordering Blue ink.
TIP---One thing I tried and was thrilled with was inking the edges of the three smaller photos with white craft ink. I wanted to emphasize the edges of the photos, but didn't want to add any more layers of cardstock under them. This trick was perfect for defining those edges! Just one more reason to love my white craft pad!
After I did this page, I realized I had never really done a page about just Steve. He doesn't really like his picture taken as you can tell by the hand over his face in the larger photo. Either that or he's making a goofy face and ruins the whole shot! LOL He's my sweet, funny brother!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to share more layouts and tips this week....in between preparing my tax info(yes, I know.....it's almost April! LOL), watching American Idol (woot woot to David Cook!) and recovering from long days at work. Once I sat down to post this, I realized how tired I was tonight!
Hope you have a blessed week!

Whew! What a week!

I haven't posted in six days! I have had a busy week with work, organizing my craft supplies, watching American Idol (go David Cook!!), cooking, cleaning, paying bills, etc. I got to have another wonderful scrapbooking marathon with Mom and Tammy on Saturday. This week I will post some of my creations and get back in blog mode. Thanks for stopping by!

Time to Organize!

Ok, I officially have spring fever....spring cleaning fever that is...LOL I am totally revamping and reorganizing my craft area. I am touching every piece of paper, every embellishment and all my stamping/scrapbooking supplies. I'm preparing for a sale of the items I no longer use, want or need. I am truly drowning in stuff!!!! It's time to organize!

Mom, Tammy and I are getting together again on Saturday for an all-day crop here. I should have more stuff to share after that! Have a good week! Thanks for stopping by.

Julie & Brooke

I did this layout last weekend at a crop. These are my nieces Julie and Brooke. I layered the scalloped paper over a sheet of SU! Chocolate Chip. First, I inked the edges with my little chalk ink pad. The flowers are a rub-on from the set I got free during Sale-a-Bration. I just added photos, a Heidi Swapp bling frame, some ribbons, eyelets and felt letter stickers. I punched the holes for the knotted ribbon pieces and set the eyelets with my Crop-a-Dile Big Bite. That thing is awesome for punching holes and setting eyelets anywhere on your page.

Although it is officially Spring, we got some snow today in Ohio. I just turned up the furnace and am heading downstairs to organize (reorganize) things in my craft area. OH ,and I guess I should tackle some laundry, too. Brrr...hope everyone is keeping warm. Thanks for stopping by!

My Kevin

Here's a page about Kevin that I did on Saturday. I had sorted all the supplies months ago, but finally did the page. The background paper says "You Color My World". I still have to journal on the little pull-out tag. This picture was taken at Christmas 2006. I love his orange shirt. He sort of has the "are you done taking pictures yet" look. LOL Below is a close-up of the journaling pocket.
Hope everyone is having a good week. Thanks for stopping by!
