Be Merry

These are the Christmas cards I am making for the practice to send to other docs, etc. The colors are Basic Gray, Whisper White and Soft Sky. The sets are Snowflakes and Warm Words. The card size is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". The punches are from Marvy Uchida. Stickles adds some shimmer.
Here's the same card again with another design. My co-worker Katie and I brainstormed together to design her cards for this year. She really wanted to use the Shimmer White cardstock and these "icy" colors in a simple design. The set is a retired one called Bundled Up, I think. I inked the images with Soft Sky ink, then colored the darker areas with my Going Gray marker before stamping onto the cardstock. The other cardstock and ink is also Going Gray. She makes tons of homemade mittens for sale and having these "knits" on her cards this year is just perfect. She has such a talent when it comes to sewing, etc.
Here's a close up of where I added Stickles on the Bundled Up card. You can also see the shimmer of the yummy cardstock. Love that stuff even though it's expensive!
PLANS CHANGED: Jax was to visit today, but the rescue owner has the flu. Jax will meet us next Saturday and will get to stay then if we decide to adopt him. Oh my! So....this weekend we are going to put up the tree, buy gifts for the Angel Tree at church and rest some. Oh...yeah...and I am going to crank out 60 cards for the practice!!
The song I had chosen for yesterday's post wasn't right. The title didn't match the song. So, I'll have you listen to THIS one instead. :) It snowed here Friday and I was catching snowflakes on my tongue. The snowfall is so peaceful and beautiful!

Celebrate the Season

This is a super simple winter card. I used Whisper White and Soft Sky cardstocks, Soft Sky ink and just a few embellishments (silver cord, sticky bling, corner rounder, scallop circle punch).

See you next week, unless I have some fun "meeting Jax" pictures to share over the weekend.
Thanks for stopping by...

Chewy

Found misc. in my stash to make this page. *click for a closer look at the details*
Journaling says: Seriously...I think your middle name could be CHEWY! There isn't much that doesn't go in your mouth. You love to bite your leash, zipper pulls, pant legs, fingers, blankets and so on. Thank goodness you also love your CHEWY rawhide treats, too!

I inked the edges of the tags, used mini glue dots to keep the ribbon just so, and lastly...used those fun felt alpha letters from The Dollar Tree. They matched the blue just perfectly!
Thanks for stopping by. Just a simple winter card tomorrow, then this weekend is when Jax comes to meet us. If we adopt him, he'll come home for good the weekend after Christmas.

Simple Elegance

I got a bit of time to stamp tonight. Yeah!! This card has no stamping however. I just used Whisper White cardstock for the base, some Soft Sky and Mellow Moss textured cardstock, one sticker strip from a scrappin' kit, self-stick pearls and this pre-made flower embellishment. This card screams elegance to me! Sometimes when I create a "less is more" design, I keep thinking I need to add something to it. Not this one. I wanted to leave it simple. Any sentiment or message I add will be stamped inside the card only. I really wanted the flower to stand out and by adding the self-stick pearls, I feel like it helped tie the whole elegant look together. It might look flat and boring on the screen, but it's way prettier in person.

You can see the yummy textures and details here. *click either pic for a closer look*

Riley was so good for me tonight! I put a big pillow and a blanket on the floor near my craft table and he rested like a good boy. He'd run up and down the steps to see daddy or mommy, then whimper for attention. He chewed his rawhide, bit his red blanket and enjoyed a little pup snack while I stamped some. The "part" in the hair on his head is nuts. I brush and brush and it just gets wonky all over again. You keep seeing pics of him in his jacket, too. It's nice that he doesn't mind it so when it's time to go outside he's already warm and cozy.

He even helped me pick out the sticky pearls for this card. LOL! Yes, he's on my table! LOL!

I'll have another very simple winter card and a scrapbook page to share later this week. Don't faint...I am feeling all bloggy right now! Eek!!!!!!

I haven't shared any good songs lately. How about THIS one. Enjoy! Remember, that in God's eyes we are all beautiful!

Annual Christmas Party

Kevin and I went to the annual Christmas party for the practice tonight. It was a lot of fun since Dr. D had "Magic Mike" do the entertainment. Here are a few highlights from today.

Our practice manager decorated all the envelopes with the bonus checks in them. It was nice because the docs handed them out one by one. They are so good to us!
Magic Mike started his routine with some juggling and pulling this very long strand of colored rings from his mouth. He joked that it is hard to get it wound back up for the next time. LOL!
He had several people participate. I chose this picture to protect the identity of the humiliated doctor from our practice. Notice the plunger on his head. Magic Mike does do real magic tricks, but he also said it's his job to make fun of those he calls up front. LOL! He did a great job.
This is Mr. Slipper Thief. When I came home at lunch I had my slippers in the kitchen, then when I turned around one was missing. Hmmm....should have guessed who had it! LOL!
When all is said and done, I love him THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS much....even though he's ornery! :)

Mr. Handsome

I originally wanted the title of this page to be Mr. Handsome, but never found the right stickers in my stash. At first I didn't have the hideous arrow, then added it, then couldn't take it off. Sheesh! I am trying to be creative, but it ain't happenin'. At least the subject matter is adorable and he is quite handsome. *sigh* It looks kinda goofy at the corners, but that's the vanilla paper pack I leaned the page up against. The page has rounded corners, but isn't mounted to the vanilla. (click for a closer look at the page if you dare) I figure Un-do Adhesive Remover just might be in the agenda for this page.
His name is created using some of my fabric letters from Joann Fabrics. The cute schoolhouse title strip is from my sweet mom. :)
Isn't he handsome?! He is Mr. Super Sporty in his handsome jacket. :)
All curled up on the big bed. Looks all sweet until.................
...chomp!!!! Ahhhhhh...these puppy teeth have been my constant battle lately. If it moves,
he'll bite it...including the hands that feed him, bathe him, and give him lots of love. LOL! And, yes....most everything in our house is now on the ceiling, but he still manages to find something to chomp on....LOL!
The next layout I started about him is already better than the first disaster. I just have to get my dog layout mojo going again. I have a new subject matter and all boy stuff to deal with. I have pages of Macy I still need to finish, but honestly, I am not ready. I just bawled uncontrollably the other day while cleaning up my craft area.....her picture and a layout that needs done was in one of the piles and I just lost my emotions all over again. *sniffle*
We will most likely get to meet Jax this weekend. I sure hope a big brother for Riley will be under our tree this year. Ruff Ruff!
We have the Christmas party for my work on Monday, Bible Study Tuesday, meeting Wednesday at work, then hopefully finishing details for Jax to visit. I'll try to finish the other Riley page and have something crafty this week. If December is slow mojo/not-real-crafty month, well....just stay tuned. It has to get better. I just have to do what I do in between puppy chomps, naps, potty breaks and the usual life stuff.

I'm here...

I haven't fallen off the edge of Earth. I haven't lost my spunk for all things crafty. I am simply busy, busy with Riley and the many details of life. I know December will be a busy month in general, so thanks for bearing with me as I adjust to the puppy in my life as well as maintain the details as a wife, employee, etc. Please, please, please don't go....I'll be back soon with something worthy. Something crafty even. I'm here...just caught up in life for a bit. You understand, right? *wink*
